The opportunity to sponsor a highly motivated, dedicated, focused and committed junior team in Ontario is with Team Bushfield. Team Bushfield, from the Brockville Golf and Country Club, is a high potential candidate for the Ontario Junior title this year, and we will be doing the best of our abilities to make this happen.
This is the first year for the new Bushfield rink. Long time competitors have joined forces, and we believe that we have the best player at every position in Ontario. Both previous teams (Team Bushfield and Team Cowan) have had distinguished bantam and junior careers to this point, and look to finish them with a bang. Our commitment t o practice, development, and analysis - grouped with our team dynamics and abilities, will enable us to succeed with our goals for the year, while having fun at the same time.
Team Bushfield has two objectives for the 2005/6 season. First, is to win the Ontario Junior Men’s Provincial title and represent Ontario at the nationals. Second goal is to advance to the playoff round at nationals. Once this has been accomplished, the team will re-evaluate our goals and set new ones as we progress.
The team consists of Rob Bushfield (skip), Derek Cowan (vice), Alex Coon (second), Darren Anderson (lead) and Ray Bushfield (coach). Rob and Alex have curled together since they began to curl in the little rock program at their club. Derek and Darren are entering their 5th year together, despite changing teammates around them. The combination of the two teams has been very successful both on and off the ice. The four of us have quickly formed friendships, and it has helped our games as well. In the three spiels that the new Team Bushfield competed in at the end of last season in Carleton Place, Prescott, and the City of Ottawa, the team had a 17-3 record, winning in Prescott, and reaching the semi finals of Carleton Place and the City of Ottawa Main Event.

Each player has made significant commitments to practice and to a comprehensive schedule leading to the junior provincials. We have been working extensively over the summer on our strength and conditioning, as well as our mental preparation. We will be practicing individually and/or as a team several days a week. We will also be competing many weekends in spiels across Southern Ontario and in the Ottawa Valley. Our year was started at the high performance in Guelph near the end of August. It helped us to realize what our strengths were, and what we needed to work on. It also gave us a head start to the year on our competition, as well as giving us the opportunity to tap into the best coaches from across Canada and the world. The rest of our schedule consists of:
