We are Team Belisle!
We are four dynamic, competitive, energetic, dedicated and whimsical women (+ one older, wiser coach) who have set our sights on nothing less than proudly representing our country at the World Championships. The 2010 Olympics would of course also be a nice bonus.
We shouldn’t merely be chosen to be the next Curling Idols because we are Quebecers (from the curling clubs of Lachine and Longue Pointe), or because we are bilingual or because we take a decent photo. We feel that we should be chosen because we represent the young blood that exists in the curling world that is moving up into the women’s ranks and turning some heads. We also feel that we are good candidates because though much of our winters are dedicated to curling, we also have lives and play key roles in our communities.

Last year, was our first season together as a team. We set our goals low as we wanted to focus on building the bonds of friendship that we feel make the best teams even better. Though we didn’t surprise our fans by our success, we certainly impressed ourselves.
We won the Quebec Circuit Final (which saw 8 of the top women’s teams competing, including the likes of Marie France Larouche, Brenda Nicholls, Chantal Osborne and Nathalie Gagnon among others).
We competed at the Canada Cup East, finishing with a record of 3-3. We proudly made it to the A final and the C final but had to bow our hats to Anne Merklinger and Marie France Larouche respectively.
We won various local spiels, and our regionals. We had a commendable showing at our provincials but were edged out in the quarter-finals by Chantal Osborne. One place out of the medals didn’t sour our spirits or our team, it has fueled our fire as we have come to realize that we are deserving of the title, Team Quebec and when we get the chance to prove it, Team Canada.
We do however need this sponsorship. We have learned as amateur athletes that our competition is not our biggest obstacle; it is the lack of funds.
This year you will find Team Belisle on the ice at the RCMP fall open, The Southwestern Ontario Women’s Charity Cashpiel, the Quebec Circuit finals, local spiels and with a strong season, the Quebec Provincials.
Thank you for taking the time to read about us and thank you for giving one team this amazing opportunity and this tremendous support. From reading the other applications, it’s clear the choice you have ahead is not easy. Good luck to all!
Please remember that we’d love to be your Idols and we hope you’ll remember the name Belisle.
Sincerely,
Team Belisle
Eve, Pamela, Martine, Saskia and Dan
